What is ART® and how does it work?
ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue movement based technique that treats problems with
muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. A precisely directed tension is applied to soft tissue
adhesions (scar tissue) with a very specific patient movement. This combination is effective in breaking
down scar tissue (by-product of cumulative soft tissue trauma) which results in increased soft tissue
tension, pain, and dysfunction. ART® providers must re-certify annually to keep their skills up to date.
How do overuse conditions occur?
Repetitively used muscles can change in the following ways: acute conditions (pulls, tears, etc),
accumulation of small tears( microtrauma) and when it is not getting enough oxygen (hypoxia). As a
result, dense scar tissue forms which can tie down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue
accumulates, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can
become trapped. This can cause reduced ranges of motion, loss of strength, and pain. Tingling,
numbness and weakness may also develop from nerve entrapment.
ART® can help with the following but not limited to:
●Headaches
●Neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand pain
●Knee, hip, back, ankle and feet pain
●Shin splints
●Plantar fasciitis
●Tennis elbow/golfer’s elbow
●Carpal tunnel syndrome
●Sciatica
●Tendinitis
●Radicular pain
